NIGHT SKY

This brilliant collaboration between percussionist Michael Suchorsky and pianist David Rissenberg produces highly ethereal music that defies all pedantic generic classifications.  “Compelling and hypnotic” was a description by an audience member of a recent awe-inspiring performance of Night Sky at the Andes Hotel.  They describe their musical encounter thus: “our reactive musical exchanges build sound-sculptures outside of any preconceived structure, often surprising ourselves in their originality.”

Michael Suchorsky has spent decades performing and recording around the world in a wide variety of musical genres; from middle eastern jazz, to microtonal, to punk rock. Michael has played at venues that stretch from CBGBS to the Berlin and Montreaux Jazz Festivals to Lincoln Center. He maintained long standing associations touring and recording throughout the world with artists such as Lou Reed, Soldier String Quartet, jazz trumpeter Don Cherry, and French rock legend Jacques Higelin.

David Rissenberg ’s background is in classical music.  David studied at SUNY Purchase with Seymour Bernstein and in Woodstock with founder of the legendary Creative Music Studio, Karl Berger.  Following a well-received debut at Carnegie Recital Hall, he has performed extensively in the United States and Europe, focusing primarily on the solo repertoire but also along with orchestras and chamber groups.
