SOUNDWALL…
at the Andes Hotel, in the Yellow Room, July 12…

SOUNDWALL is coming to the Andes Hotel for an evening of music, invention, and improvisation, with a show that you must see to believe. The brainchild of John Houshmand and Ed Potokar, SOUNDWALL is the band that fronts their new company that creates “sonic architecture.” The group is pioneering the making of sculptural and architectural instruments, melding these with traditional instruments and a kick-ass rhythm section, and taking the listener on an adventure of real-time creative improvised compositions.

Michael Suchorsky will be the guest artist, sitting in on drums for some tunes while Victor plays trumpet and percussion!

SOUNDWALL is…

Ed Potokar, the son of a Latin Jazz and Polka drummer, started his art, design and musical career in Cleveland. He went on to create unique musical instruments at The Cleveland Institute of Art, where he earned a BFA. Potokar then began inventing and fabricating custom analog synthesizers, affectionately known as the “boxes.” These helped create a signature sound and serve as the foundation for the renowned punk/funk/art/metal/wave musical group, the Audio Artists. After moving to NYC, he founded MUSIC FOR TV, a successful downtown Manhattan music production house, and wrote the theme music for MTV’s “Unplugged.” He also toured with groups in North and South America and Europe. His work has been featured in New York Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, NY1, VH1, WNYC Soundcheck, to name just a few. http://edpotokarsoundwall.com

This led to a string of prestigious gigs, including two years with Donaldson’s, and then with Stan Getz’s band. Touring with Getz introduced Jones to an international audience, and he has since toured and recorded with a multitude of renowned artists, such as James Moody, Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard, Stanley Clarke, Phyllis Hyman, Stanley Turrentine, Masabumi Kikuchi, Michel Pettruciani, Dizzy Gillespie, Jimmy Scott, and Chaka Khan. He has years of playing as a sideman on over 100 releases, and on film and production work, and fronts several bands of his own, The Victor Jones R&B Bop Band, “Visible Sound Groove,” and Culturversy. https://www.facebook.com/desiredrums
